C++ / Qt SDR prototype

RTL Radio

Project notes for a local Windows SDR desktop prototype exploring spectrum display, receiver diagnostics, scanner workflows and careful radio-capability boundaries.

RTL Radio SDR monitor interface with spectrum and waterfall display

Project context

RTL Radio is presented here as a personal project note and local prototype, not as a commercial product, official radio service, calibrated measurement tool or public-safety application.

The project is useful evidence of practical native-app work: C++17, CMake, Qt 6 Widgets, RTL-SDR device handling, FFT-based spectrum display, receiver diagnostics and interface flows for scanning and signal review.

What this project demonstrates

Native desktop engineering

Builds a Windows desktop interface around Qt widgets, CMake, device libraries, audio/runtime dependencies and repeatable test checks.

Signal workflow design

Explores spectrum and waterfall display, receiver diagnostics, scanner controls and conservative state labels that help avoid over-reading RF evidence.

Careful capability limits

Keeps radio and P25 wording bounded: the page records candidate-monitoring experiments without claiming public-safety decoding, calibrated measurement or bypass capability.

Evidence used for this note

The supporting local workspace includes architecture notes, receiver-validation notes, QA screenshots and a CTest target. On 30 June 2026, the Release build completed successfully and RTLRadioTests passed locally.
